Tibet is located on the Tibetan Plateau, the highest region on Earth to the north of central India. In northern Tibet elevations reach an average of over 4,572 metres. Xinjiang, Qinghai and Sichuan lie to the north and east of the Tibet; India and Kashmir to the west; and Yunnan, Nepal, India and Bhutan to the south.
Dalai Lama, the spiritual leader of the Tibetan people is a close friend of the Sikhs.
